What is the SPJA and what is your role as the chairmen of the SPJA.
Answer:
The Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation (SPJA) is a non-profit
organization with a mission to popularize and educate the American public
about anime and manga, as well as provide a forum to facilitate
communication between professionals and fans.
The primary objectives and purposes of the SPJA is to:
-The promotion of Anime and Manga as well as arts that influence or are
influenced by them
-To provide common forum for enthusiasts interact
-To foster the trade, commerce, and interests of all members of the industry
and fandom
-To collect and disseminate information of value related anime and Manga
industry to the public
-To perform such other activities that may be necessary or incidental to the
above purposes
The primary way that the SPJA seeks to promote animation and comics in the
United States is through its annual trade show, Anime Expo®. Anime Expo® is
the largest exposition that has invited and hosted artists and professionals
from Japan to meet with their American counterparts and fans.
As the Chairman of the Board, Mr. Perez, is a key visionary in the
direction, creation, financing and maintenance of brands, such as Anime
Expo® and the SPJA Awards, to achieve the overall mission of the
organization. He leads his team of board members to achieve these goals
with sound cohesiveness, judgment and jurisprudence.
